Are you in the MSL?
This week is all about introducing, or reintroducing, the MSL, the Mental Strength League, and asking you, are you in the game?
Did you know there is a game being played, and that you are participating, whether you realize it or not?
The game I’m talking about is going on around you, and you probably don’t know the rules. Someone who has already played the game would have had to teach you.
This is where the MSL comes in!
Here at Perfect Soccer, we want to provide you the tools you need to learn the rules of the game. We want to share our experience in the game with you.
Why? We know the game isn’t fair. We also know that this is not a zero-sum game. There is enough opportunity for everyone, and we don’t believe in hoarding knowledge that can help others.
To tap into this wealth of knowledge, you first have to join us in the MSL. Now, not everyone is ready for the MSL.
So, how do you know if you are in the game, or if you’re getting played?
The MSL Mentality
I’ve been able to stick with the MSL for so long because I know exactly why I’m doing this, and who I’m doing it for. SPOILER: I’m doing it for all the good people out there who just need to develop the right mentality to change their situation. The MSL is the reason I’ve been able to stick around and ‘survive’ as a professional soccer player for 11 years. I’ve been developing and honing the right mentality over years and years. Along the way, people questioned my intentions, why I was doing this, and who I was doing it for.
(I’m also doing it for the not so good people out there, the people who want to take advantage of others. But, they have to play by the rules of the MSL to get anything out of the MSL. To take advantage without providing value in return only exposes who they are to those who are acting with genuine intentions.)
So, you’re pretty sure you’re in the MSL or want to be a part of the MSL? That’s great! But how do you know if you have the right mentality to play? How do you know if you are ready?
Everything starts with self-awareness.
I’m going to need you to dig really deep here. Think about the situation you are currently in. Are you happy or not?
If you’re not happy with where you are at, how did you end up in your current situation? Whose fault is it? Now, you may be saying it's someone else’s fault. Someone took advantage of you. They did something to you to cause you to fail. Your value was stolen!
The next part here is going to be hard. In fact, this part is so hard that most people won’t even bother to attempt it. I need you to think about how much responsibility you bear for your current situation.
Yes, someone did something to you that contributed to you being unhappy, but what did you do that allowed them that chance? Maybe they are 99.9% responsible for where you are now, but that means you are 0.01% responsible. Some of your current situation is your fault.
I’m sure you’re thinking, “wow, that’s cold.”
It’s a harsh truth for sure, to be responsible for a situation you don’t like. But I’m here to tell you why being responsible is a good thing!
If you are 0.01% responsible for your current situation, that means you have a place to start creating change. You are going to focus on that 0.01% so much that you will never lose the game over that 0.01%, ever again.
The Power of Taking Responsibility
Now, you’ve been focused on that 0.01%, and you’ve got to thinking… maybe you are slightly more responsible for your situation than you initially thought. Perhaps you contributed 2% or 3% to your current state.
Acknowledging this is cause for celebration, so don’t be discouraged! If you are responsible for where you are at, you are also capable of making a change! You can research, learn, and implement to alter your situation completely.
Sticking with a mindset where you are 0% at fault means that someone else has 100% control over you. In this case, you are a victim, and you have no power over your situation at all.
Taking responsibility is taking power. I’m happy to take responsibility for my failures or shortcomings, because doing so gives me control over my future. I invite you to do the same. Take back your power.
The MSL wasn’t created overnight. It reflects over 23 years of hard work, hundreds of thousands of mistakes, countless conversations, and a substantial monetary investment in learning and creating resources.
I really believe we could all be happier and more fulfilled if we focus on what we have rather than what we don’t. If we focus on what we have, ourselves, and work on improving every day, we can accomplish a lot.
So, are you ready to join us in the MSL? I would like to invite you to find out if you have the right mentality to qualify.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the MSL!
